Viviendo Live Concert 2011 –VEROLIS is the name of one minor band was playing in Firenze (Italy) thru years 2005 – 2007. The name is inspired by Central America and in particular by “its land” and “its nature”. The group was founded by Antonio E. Sandoval Arce, born in Costa Rica but still resident in Florence where he carries out artistic activities (his drawings on this page from which the CD cover is taken).
The music and lyrics were originally composed by Antonio for voice and guitar in the same way as folk songs, but, when he formed the group, the musical and vocal parts were re-arranged to make them suitable for electronic and percussive instruments using fancy “latin”, reggae and rock-beat tempo.
Music
The genres and rhythms of South America and Central America have exerted a beneficial influence not only on the author, but also on all musicians and the result is catchy music, with dance rhythms tending to rock but blended with Latin and South American rhythms.
Listening is fluid and pleasant and conveys joy, however one should not think of being in front of undemanding songs because the lyrics also deal with important issues and contain an energetic protest against wars, globalization, political and financial power, strongly contesting the ” use of non-fair trade business models. These are issues that are faced with irony, sarcasm, resignation but also hope, both when the protest is ‘classically’ directed against the USA, and when one enters more inaccessible terrains such as terrorism and fratricidal wars, but which hide uncomfortable truths above all about abuse of power, as appear into some their lyrics written in Spanish, English and Italian language.
The Band played three years near Firenze in pubs and ball-rooms and these 14 tracks, released for the first time on 2011 (4 of them are alternate takes with different arrangement and sound), are all recorded “LIVE” during two concerts, in one of which musicians are extended to 7 being present a female vocalist and special guest on percussions. Then band was dismounted and some of musicians are too playing in other groups.
