The Railroads Men 1970s Collection is the second album released by “Railroad’s Men” available on the Web from November 13, 2020. The first, A Bottle of Water, was released on 2009 as CD and then on the Web. Songs on both albums were composed and performed mainly in the 70s, with scarce instrumental and technical means, sometimes handcrafted and self-built, but with great use of creative flair and imagination, especially in the first album, where these young people (at the time), small forerunners of Home Recording, even with their limitations, show off a varied and unexpected repertoire.

The Content

In addition to the presence of covers, proposed now in this second album, repertoire ranges from rock-pop, to blues, to jazz, to love songs, going up to classic, electronic music, concrete almost functional. It is good to know this: in that period, “making music” was not relativity simple as nowadays where is wide availability of quality musical and electronic instrumentation, at low cost, but involved a considerable economic effort. The original recordings, on a 1/4-inch tape reel, have been restored, edited and digitized. There are “live” sessions but the overdubbing technique is used a lot, to the point that Percussive Key Part 1 it is performed by a single musician except the rhythm section provided by a keyboard. All tracks on this album are instrumental, except “live” blues on track 4, and classic and jazz covers are offered as well as own compositions.
