John Mayall Live Firenze (1982) Vol. 1 & 2. The name John Mayall inevitably brings to mind the British blues explosion of the early ’60s. Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce and Peter Green have all been members in the ranks of his Bluesbreakers but while the others were to turn towards other genres, John Mayall has remained faithful to his roots, barely even allowing himself to dabble in acoustic playing or to collaborate with jazz-orientated musicians.
This is a live recording made on 1982 in Firenze at “Teatro Tenda” and it belongs to a private collection. It is a “bootleg” and for this reason has not been published. Recording was made utilizing a good quality microphone and cassette tape recorder. Then remastered and digitalized on two CDs. The sound is very good and suggestive because the presence of the public is also very appreciated, who does not bother excessively even for the good quality of the reproduction system despite some momentary problems with a speaker. The music is also largely satisfying. John Mayall’s classic blues. That night the musicians were particularly inspired, especially Mick Taylor, without forgetting the rhythm section, and the concert was fantastic!
