GIUSEPPE VERDI, MESSA DA REQUIEM LIVE - CORO DESIDERIO DA SETTIGNANO
LP Album

This is a live recording of Messa da Requiem di Giuseppe Verdi made in Basilica Santa Croce (Florence) on october 2005, then released on the Web. The mixed choir, Il coro “Desiderio da Settignano”, was founded in 1989 in Settignano near Florence. From a small core of original members, the choir has growth to about 80 singers. Its growing quality and particular unmistakable characteristics have made it a sought-after formation in the Florence area. Its present repertoire rages from renaissance vocal music to 17th century opera, from baroque oratories to sacred music of the 19th and 20th centuries and from 20th century melodramas to contemporary Italian, French and German music up to the 50’s.

The orchestra of the same name, founded in 2002 and directed by Johanna Knauf, has 40 regular members in addition to a range of professionals and young amateurs.

Long present on the main liquid music websites these songs were later withdrawn.

Unfortunately, during year 2020, a great mourning hit all, chorus, musicians and friends. On 1st June, after a long disease, Johanna Knauf left us. We therefore want to remember you with great affection and friendship through this video taken from YouTube which is an excerpt from a film shot about you and the Desiderio da Settignano Choir.
