Cessation of Social Activity – The extraordinary assembly of Dec.13.2024 resolved to dissolve the Rocky & Records Association CF. 94186760487 which will therefore cease its social activity. Founded in 2010 among musicians and ex-musicians on the initiative of the author of this article, it had, among its aims, that of spreading musical culture also giving prominence to what was produced by some minor Florentine musical groups. It, in its own small way, therefore dealt with music by encouraging and stimulating, in an exclusively amateur form, those who had something to express in this field. In fact, it sought to promote the musical creativity of the members, both individually and through their groups, particularly favoring the ‘live’ sound for the intrinsic truth it expresses.
It also offered, to members only and only in Italy, advice on copyright and, if requested, possible registration with the U.S. Copyright Office of Washington, digital distribution, digital restoration of analog audio material, audio recording, vinyl evaluation and attribution of standard ISRC codes.
This operation, not very widespread at the time, will therefore end with the cessation of the social activity. With the authorization of the assembly, the website remains and will remain. It will soon be integrated with appropriate changes, so as not to lose what has been historically done.
In 2010 (at least in Italy) the first steps were still being taken in the digital distribution of what we now call liquid music. At the end of 2022, streaming, whether audiophiles like it or not, covered 67.0% of total revenues from recorded music worldwide. The lawsuits brought by the recording industry at the time against Mp3.com and Napster for downloading audio files from the Internet have now become only historical facts.
A curiosity!
The ancestor of streaming was born in New York in the distant 1906 when, with the installation of the Telharmonium designed by Thaddeus Cahill, the first transmission of music on demand occurred via telephone line. In 1916, everything was discontinued due to technical problems.
We thank and warmly greet those who have had the opportunity to follow us in these 15 years.
We love live music!
